Tall Ship Sailing Cruises, McLarens Landing & Whale Watching Gold Coast embraces sustainable practices in our office & during our island events. We take our commitment to minimizing the environmental impact of our business very seriously.
At McLarens Landing
- Water is recycled on the island and bore water is purified via environmentally friendly filters & electric current
- We recycle vegetable waste on the island to make natural fertilizers to replenish the gardens
- Plenty of Flora & Fauna as well as a tree planting program to ensure this continues
- Food & equipment is transported with our staff run in the morning
- Non disposable products are used where possible
- All of our waste is removed from the island via a contractor every Thursday and transported back to the mainland at a great cost to our company
- Recycling of all cardboard
- We have replaced all light globes with energy saving bulbs
- We are in the process of installing a major solar plant for off peak electricity at our island facility as a first for the Gold Coast
Onboard our vessels
- We are the only commercial sailing cruise company on the Gold Coast with two sailing ships which operate daily. We sail most of the way and only use an economical diesel motor when necessary (when the winds drop)
- We work closely with the hotels who have a marina which means we can depart directly from the jetty, saving on coach transfers & minimizing travel distances
- Onboard toilets with bore water, we collect the sewage and empty them into a sewage tank at the fuel jetty twice a week
- We provide plenty of bins onboard ensuring that passengers don’t throw anything overboard
In our office
- Lots of natural light & fresh air, minimizing the need for lights & air conditioning
- Reduce emissions by shutting down computers at night
- Recycling of paper & purchasing recycled paper
- We send all proposals for event enquiries via emails, reducing the amount of printed documents
